Georgia’s attorney general says two new states have agreed to honor Georgia firearms permits in a reciprocal recognition program.

This week, the House is expected to consider HB 2353 , which would allow concealed carry permit holders to take guns into government buildings unless the buildings have metal detectors or adequate equipment to screen out weapons.

Why do the police waste money on law abiding hunters and target shooters instead of where it should be spent, on monitoring sex offenders, violent parolees and criminals prohibited from owning firearms? Wouldn’t that keep Canadians safer?

Bobby Lee and his two-year-old daughter Zoey were asleep in their Laurel County, Ky. home, when a trio of criminals broke into the house. One of the intruders made it into Lee’s bedroom, at which point Lee retrieved a gun, fired it, striking one of the burglars, and chased all three criminals from the home. The home invaders made it to their getaway SUV, but when it broke down Lee ordered all of them out of the vehicle and held them until police could arrive.
Lee bought his firearm after a previous burglary and practiced with it several times in order to be prepared for just such a scenario. When interviewed by local media, Lee noted, “I’m happy I protected my family. That is something you can take pride in.”

Today, House Bill 2457 passed in the state House Energy and Natural Resources Committee by an 8 to 0 vote with a “do pass” recommendation.  This important bill now goes to the House floor for a vote.

Last September, we informed you about the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Commission’s (WDFW) overly broad ban on the use of traditional ammunition (lead ammunition) for all upland game hunting on all of the state’s pheasant release sites.  We also asked you to take part in the 2012-2014 hunting season-setting process by submitting public comment to the WDFW and Commission to request that they repeal this unfounded lead ammunition ban.

This Wednesday, February 15, West Virginia Senate committees are expected to consider two NRA-backed bills.  The state Senate Natural Resources Committee is scheduled to hear a pro-hunting bill, Senate Bill 144.  On the same day, the state Senate Judiciary Committee will consider Senate Bill 353.

Last Monday, the Virginia Senate passed Senate Bill 323, legislation to repeal the prohibition of purchasing more than one handgun per month, by a 21 to 19 vote.  Today, the state Senate passed House Bill 940, the House companion to SB 323, by the same 21 to 19 margin.  HB 940 will now be sent to Governor Bob McDonnell for his signature to which he has already publicly committed to do.
