Rep. Lori Berman, D Delray Beach, and Sen. Maria Sachs, D Delray Beach, are proposing what they deem a “glitch bill,” that would partially unravel existing law by imposing a statewide ban on concealed weapons in both day care centers and government buildings such as city hall.

Legislators are likely to engage in a spirited debate over what kind of bullets may be fired at doves. Last year, in uncharacteristically speedy fashion, lawmakers voted to legalize dove hunting in Iowa.
But Senator Dick Dearden of Des Moines and others are upset with the Iowa Natural Resources Commission’s decision to forbid hunters from using lead shot when firing at doves.

A number of legal challenges brought by shooting enthusiasts against refusals by gardao to issue the gun owners with certificates for restricted firearms, has commenced before the High Court.
In three cases before the court, the gun owners are seeking orders quashing the Gardao’s refusal to issue them with licenses. They claim the Gardao’s refusal amounts to a breach of their constitutional rights and amounts to a fixed policy of not issuing licenses for guns that can be legally held.

NRA-backed Legislative Bill 807 is scheduled to be heard in the Judiciary Committee on Thursday, January 19. Introduced by state Senator Scott Lautenbaugh (18), LB 807 would amend and clarify the current concealed carry permit disqualifications and help expedite the application process.

On January 6, the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) informed the Nevada Sheriffs’ and Chiefs’ Association that they would NOT be grandfathering concealed carry weapons (CCW) permit holders whose permits were either granted or renewed on or before July 1, 2011, from the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) for firearm purchases.

Repealing Virginia’s handgun rationing law is a top priority for the Virginia Shooting Sports Association during the 2012 session of the Virginia General Assembly. In 1993, Gov. Doug Wilder signed legislation known as “one gun a month.” The premise behind the law was based on flawed data. Wilder and his gun ban lobby friends made the claim, based on a relative handful of firearm traces conducted in the 1980s under a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms program known as Project Lead, that Virginia was one of the main sources of guns used in crimes in New York, and such a distinction was an embarrassment for the commonwealth.
