New Jersey: Legislation to Repeal “Gun Rationing” Introduced
Last Tuesday, the first day of the 215th session of the New Jersey Legislature, Assembly Bill 857 was introduced. Introduced by Assemblywoman Alison Littell McHose (R-24), A 857 would repeal New Jersey’s law which allows residents to purchase only one handgun per month. Current law states, “A dealer shall not knowingly deliver more than one handgun to any person within any 30-day period.”
Illinois: Oak Park Considering Additional Firearm Regulations
The Village of Oak Park is holding a community forum on Tuesday, January 24, to hear public comments relating to the imposition of additional local restrictions on the sale and possession of firearms. This forum will be hosted by the Board of Health, and the views expressed will be communicated to the Village Board as it considers enacting additional restrictions on where, how and to whom firearms are sold, and how they are stored.
Virginia: Pro-Gun Senate Bill Scheduled for Committee Hearing as More Legislation is Introduced!
At the start of every legislative session in Richmond, we can always expect to see a large number of firearms-related bills, some with fast action, and this year is no exception.One such bill, Senate Bill 245, introduced by state Senator Mark Obenshain (R-26), is already scheduled to be heard in the Senate General Laws and Technology Committee this Monday, January 16. Drafted by the NRA, SB 245 would update Virginia’s Emergency Powers statute by adding lawful carrying and transportation to the list of actions that cannot be prohibited during a declaration of emergency.

Another BATFE gun operation is under scrutiny
In the late summer of 2010, the ATF agent leading the failed Fast and Furious gun smuggling operation in Arizona flew to Mexico City to help coordinate cross border investigations of U.S. weapons used by Mexican drug cartels.
Hope A. MacAllister wanted access to police and military vaults for American weapons recovered by Mexican authorities in raids and at crime scenes. She especially was interested in firearms from another ATF investigation, code named White Gun, that she was running.
Now members of Congress who have spent months scrutinizing Fast and Furious are seeking to determine whether White Gun was another weapons investigation gone wrong.
New York: Anti-gun bills trigger concern
Right now there are no less than 32 anti gun bills going through the legislative process with as many companion bills under consideration in the state senate, including A6108, that would amend the definition of so called “assault weapons” to include additional firearms — many of which are used for hunting and target shooting.
New York City: Councilmen oppose city gun resolution
While most City legislators have taken aim at protecting the City’s stringent gun laws, two Queens councilmen have put more lax gun laws in their sights.
Queens Councilmen Dan Halloran (R Whitestone) and rising GOP star Eric Ulrich (R Ozone Park) have joined Staten Island Republicans Vincent Ignizio and James Oddo to oppose a Council resolution that voiced its displeasure with a bill approved in the Republican controlled U.S. House of Representatives.
