Yesterday, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives postponed its second consideration of NRA-backed House Bill 1523 due to the Marcellus Shale drilling debate.  Anti-gun advocacy groups are lobbying hard to derail this common sense legislation.  As predicted, anti-gun Representatives have filed at least thirteen anti-gun amendments to the bill for second consideration.  These amendments range from “ballistic imaging” mandate to gutting the current “state preemption” statute.  We cannot let them hijack this critical legislation.

Yesterday, the Arizona House Committee on Military Affairs and Public Safety by a 6 to 0  vote sent House Bill 2728 to the state House floor with a “do pass” recommendation.  This NRA-backed pro-hunting legislation, introduced by state Representative David Gowan (R-30), could now be voted on by the state House as early as next week.  Enactment of HB 2728 would allow hunters in Arizona to use lawfully-possessed suppressors (also referred to as silencers) on firearms for hunting. This bill needs your support!

I finally got my gun in Washington, D.C. I brought it home today from the District’s firearms’ registry office.After months of aggravation, hundreds of dollars in fees, countless hours jumping over hurdles, I am now a gun owner and finally exercising my second amendment right to keep arms (bearing arms is still illegal in the nation’s capital).

State lawmakers are poised to advance a bill that could financially punish cities that require the timely reporting of lost or stolen firearms.House Bill 1523’s sponsors say it’s an issue of governance: Municipalities cannot adopt ordinances that supersede state laws. Forty eight municipalities statewide   including Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Allentown, Reading, Lancaster and Erie   have local laws requiring the timely reporting of lost or stolen guns, or have passed resolutions asking the state to do so, even though state lawmakers in 2008 rejected such a proposal.

A settlement has been reached in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois, between Laferena Batchelor and the City of Chicago. 

The Greensboro Parks and Recreation commission has recommended sending to council an ordinance that would keep concealed weapons out of parks with playgrounds or athletic facilities.The vote to approve was 6-2 at a Wednesday meeting. It is not yet known when council will take up the ordinance.

Laycee Lowe, a pregnant 17-year-old, was at home alone in Glendale, Ariz. when she noticed a prowler outside the home. After climbing a fence and peering into windows, the criminal attempted to get into the home through a do door. Lowe responded to the threat by retrieving a gun and firing it into the dog door, which caused the intruder to flee.
 Following the incident, Julio Lowe, Laycee’s father, praised his daughter’s actions, stating, “She’s just real brave and slick. She handled it real well.” Julio also noted that there had been a suspicious incident at his home involving a prowler a few days earlier, prompting him to teach his daughter how to properly use a firearm.
