The 2012 session of the West Virginia Legislature is underway and has gotten off to a great start for gun owners. Pro-gun West Virginia legislators have introduced four NRA-backed bills already with at least one more bill expected to be introduced in the very near future.

Georgia: Pro-Hunting Legislation to be Heard in Senate Committee Tomorrow
Tomorrow, January 25, the state Senate Natural Resources and the Environment Committee is scheduled to hear NRA-backed Senate Bill 301. This hearing will take place at 3:00 p.m. in Room 450 of the State Capitol.
Nebraska: Castle Doctrine Hearing Tomorrow!
Tomorrow, January 25, the Judiciary Committee will hear testimony on Legislative Bill 804, which will strengthen your ability to protect yourself and your family by adding personal vehicles to the areas in which the Castle Doctrine would apply and removing the fear of criminal prosecution when using deadly force if attacked. This hearing is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. in Room 1113 of the Nebraska Capitol.

Virginia: Emergency Powers Legislation Headed to the Senate Floor!
Today, the state Senate General Laws and Technology Committee passed Senate Bill 245 by a 13 to 2 vote. This legislation will now be sent to the floor of the Virginia Senate, where it will be voted on this week.
Nebraska: NRA-Backed Amendment Proposed During Committee Hearing
On January 19, Legislative Bill 807 was heard by the Judiciary Committee. Introduced by state Senator Scott Lautenbaugh (18), this legislation would amend and clarify the current concealed carry permit disqualifications and help expedite the application process.
Virginia: Emergency Powers Legislation to be Considered in Senate Committee Today!
Later today (January 23), the Senate General Laws and Technology Committee is scheduled to hear SB 245. Sponsored by state Senator Mark Obenshain (R-26), SB 245 would update Virginia’s Emergency Powers statute by adding lawful carrying and transportation of firearms to the list of actions that cannot be prohibited during a declaration of emergency. If this legislation passes in the committee, it will then be sent to the state Senate for consideration.
